Procession begins at Shrine church, proceeds to Porziuncola Nuova with relic of St. Francis of Assisi, Andrea Ceccomori, Flautist

8:00 p.m. Light reception:

with Knights of Saint Francis and Franciscan Capuchin friars at Shrine Lower Hall


Guest speaker Rodney Lokaj will deliver a lecture on this year’s 800th Anniversary of the Stigmata of Saint Francis of Assisi. Lokaj is a Dantein scholar from Spoleto, Italy. Professor Lokaj specializes in Renaissance and Franciscan studies and teaches at the University of Kore-Enna, Sicily. 

October 4, 2024 at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m., La Porziuncola Nuova, Columbus at Vallejo, San Francisco. Presentation of Knights of Saint Francis new painting of “St. Francis and the Stigmata, with Dante” during the 4 p.m. program. (alternate location: Shrine Lower Hall)

Franciscan Concert: renowned Italian flautist and composer Andrea Ceccomori, accompanied by lauded San Francisco pianist Chuan Li Ko, will perform his original work THE CANTICLE OF THE CREATURES (based on Saint Francis’ original work) at 8 p.m. on Friday, October 4, 2024 at the National Shrine of Saint Francis, 610 Vallejo Street at Columbus, San Francisco. Light reception in Shrine Lower Hall follows the concert.
